About me
Kia ora/hello and thanks for making it this far.
In short, this is what I do:
I get clear on what you’re all about, and what you’re really good at.
I figure out why people will care.
I help you communicate to them in clear and engaging ways.
The slightly longer version:
I studied Visual Communication Design at Victoria University / Wellington Polytechnic School of Design in the mid nineties before learning the trade as a pre-press designer in an Auckland printing company. In 2000 I took a creative detour and went to art school, graduating with a Bachelor of Art and Design (Distinction) in 2002.
Around that time I launched Go Ahead Punk Ltd, a boutique design studio overseeing a range of community, business and artistic projects, and ultimately producing creative for about 70 clients. From 2007 to 2017 I was the Creative Director of a brand management and marketing consultancy, delivering strategic brand campaigns across print and digital media. Clients included Flightcell International, Helicopters New Zealand, Sprig & Fern Brewery, Heartland Fruit, Boxman, The Gibbons Group, Jens Hansen, The Nelson Giants, Mediaworks, Griffiths Drilling, Broadcast Map and Vortex Spas.
I went back to freelancing in 2017, mostly contracting as a Brand and Marketing Consultant for Publik Agency until 2022. My clients included Sealord, Jens Hansen, FPS, Te Piki Oranga, Waimea Water, NBS and Homes by Orange.
For some years I’ve been interested in the role of design in the startup/innovation sector and participated in startup and hackathon events. I have spent countless hours and gained invaluable knowledge developing a number of winning startup concepts towards launch. To enhance and embed my practical experience in this area, I attained a Post Graduate Diploma in Design Thinking & Innovation during lockdown in 2020.
And that is enough about me… let’s hear from you.
